Accounts & Sign-In
How do I create a CrewBox account?
Tap Sign up on the login screen and complete the three-step wizard: your personal details (name, email, phone), your company details (company name, industry, team size), and a password. You'll receive a verification email — confirm it, then sign in.
Can I sign in with my Google account?
Yes. Tap Continuar con Google on the login screen. CrewBox uses your device's system browser and Google's secure native sign-in flow — the app never sees your Google password.
Does CrewBox support fingerprint or Face ID login?
Yes. Once you've signed in, enable Biometric login on your Profile screen. After that, a fingerprint/Face ID button appears on the login screen so you can sign in without typing your password. Your credentials are stored only in your device's secure hardware-backed storage.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Tap Forgot password? on the login screen, enter your email, and tap Send reset link. Follow the link in the email to set a new password.
Why was I signed out automatically?
Your session could no longer be securely renewed (for example, after a long period of inactivity or a credential change). Just sign in again — your data is safe on the server, and any pending offline uploads remain queued on your device.
Can I stay signed in?
Yes. CrewBox keeps your session alive automatically by refreshing your credentials in the background. Check Remember me at login to also pre-fill your email next time.
Proyectos
How do I create a project?
Go to the Proyectos tab and tap the + button. Enter a name, pick the country, and start typing the address — CrewBox suggests verified addresses automatically (US and Canada). You can also add a description and start/end dates.
Can I create a project without internet?
Yes. Projects created offline are saved on your device and marked "saved offline." As soon as you're back online, CrewBox syncs them to the server automatically — including any photos you captured for them in the meantime.
What does "Near Me" do?
The Near Me filter sorts projects by distance from your current location and shows how far away each one is. It needs location permission the first time you use it.
How do I mark a project as a favorite?
Tap the bookmark icon on any project card, or use the Favorite button in the project's details sheet. Favorites get their own filter chip on Home and Projects.
How do I add crew members to a project?
Open the project, tap the Details pill, and use the Crew card to select or deselect operators, then tap Update. Assigned crew see the project under "My Projects."
Can I change which screen a project opens on?
Yes. In Profile → Default Settings, choose your default project tab (Photos, Documents, Tasks, Comments, or Reports) and your default project view filter.
Photos & Camera
What's the fastest way to take a photo?
Swipe horizontally anywhere on the Home screen — the camera opens instantly for your last-used project. Project cards also have a camera shortcut button.
Can I take photos using the volume buttons?
Yes. Press a volume key to capture. Hold it down for burst mode — CrewBox fires a shot every half second while you hold.
How do I keep my photos level and well-composed?
Open camera settings and turn on the grid overlay (rule of thirds) and the level indicator — a bubble level driven by your phone's motion sensor that shows when the camera is straight.
Are my photos GPS-tagged?
Yes, when location permission is granted, every capture stores GPS coordinates. You can view them in the photo's details and open the spot in your maps app. You can also include GPS data in PDF reports (or turn it off).
How do tags work?
Select tag chips in the camera before shooting to tag every capture automatically, or tag photos later — individually from the photo's details tray, or in bulk by long-pressing photos in the grid and choosing Tag.
What can I add tags to?
Nearly everything: projects (from the details sheet), photos and videos (at capture, in the tray, in the details tray, or in bulk), documents (at upload or in bulk), and tasks (individually or in bulk). Tags then power filtering everywhere — and task lists can even be grouped by tag. PDF reports can show or hide each photo's tags. Crews typically tag by trade, location, phase, or workflow state ("punch list", "warranty", "billing").
Can I act on many photos at once?
Yes. In any photo grid — the Photos tab or a project's Photos tab — long-press to enter selection mode, tap more photos (or select a whole day with one tap on its date header), then apply any bulk action: Share, Save to Device, Tag, Move to Project, Print, Assign to Task, Add to Report, or Delete. See the multi-select guide for every action in detail.
What happens when I hold down on a photo in a project?
The grid enters multi-select mode — the photo you pressed is selected, checkmarks appear, and date headers get select-all toggles. From there the action bar offers all eight bulk actions above. Back out to exit selection mode.
What happens to photos when I have no signal?
Nothing is lost. Captures go into a local upload queue with their tags, notes, and GPS data, and upload automatically (two at a time) when connectivity returns. You can watch progress on the Upload Queue screen.
Can I move photos to a different project?
Yes. Long-press to select photos, then choose Move to Project and pick the destination. Documents can be moved the same way.
Can I add photos from my phone's gallery?
Yes. In a project's details sheet, tap Upload to import photos and videos from your device gallery.
Who can delete a photo?
The project owner, project managers, and the person who took the photo. Deletion always asks for confirmation.
How long can videos be?
Video recordings are capped at 15 seconds — designed for quick, focused site clips that upload reliably from the field.
Anotación de fotos
Can I draw on photos?
Yes. Open any photo and tap Anotar. You get rectangles, circles, lines and arrows, text labels, and timestamps — with 12 colors, adjustable stroke width, undo/redo, and pinch-zoom for precision. A magnifier loupe helps with fine placement.
Can I add measurements to a photo?
Yes. The text tool has imperial (feet/inches) y metric (meters/centimeters) modes for labeling dimensions.
Do annotations permanently change the photo?
No. Annotations are stored as a separate editable layer on top of the original image. You can show or hide them in the viewer, re-edit them anytime, and choose whether reports show the original, the annotated version, or both.
Can I annotate a photo right after taking it?
Yes. In camera settings, set After capture to Anotar and the editor opens automatically after every shot.
Documentos
What file types can CrewBox open?
PDFs, CSV spreadsheets, and plain text open in built-in viewers; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files open in an embedded preview. Anything else can be handed off to another app on your device with Open externally.
How do I upload a document to a project?
Open the project's Documentos tab and tap the + button to pick a file from your device.
Can I rename or organize documents?
Yes. Long-press a document for bulk actions: Rename, Tag, Move to Project, Share, Save to Device, Print, Assign to Task, y Delete. You can also filter documents by type, uploader, and date range.
Tareas
How do task priorities work?
Every task has one of four priorities — Low, Medium, High, Urgent — shown as colored badges. You can filter and group task lists by priority.
Can I attach photos to a task?
Yes, two ways: attach media/documents while creating or editing a task, or select photos in the grid and choose Assign to Task — a new task opens with them pre-attached.
Can I update many tasks at once?
Yes. Long-press to select multiple tasks, then bulk Assign, Change Status, Change Priority, o Change Tags in one action.
How do I see what's due?
The Tasks tab opens with a progress bar of overdue / due today / upcoming / completed, and the Home screen shows your tasks bucketed into today, tomorrow, next week, and past due. Task details show a live countdown ("Due today", "Overdue").
Can new tasks pre-fill my usual settings?
Yes. In Profile → Default Settings, set default status, priority, due date, and whether new tasks auto-assign to you.
Comments & Communication
Where can I leave comments?
On three things: the project itself (Comments tab), any photo or video (viewer comments panel), and any document (viewer comments panel). This keeps discussion attached to the thing being discussed.
When should I comment on the project instead of on a photo or document?
Comment on the project when the topic is the job as a whole — schedule changes, gate codes, parking, crew coordination, daily summaries, or anything that has no photo or file yet. Comment on a photo when it's about what's in the frame, and on a document when it's about that specific file. The rule of thumb: comment where you'd want to find the answer later. See the project comments guide.
How do @mentions work?
Type @ while writing a comment and pick a teammate. Mentioned people get a notification that deep-links straight to the conversation.
Can I edit or delete a comment?
You can edit your own comments (they get an "edited" label). Project owners and managers can moderate. Deleting asks for confirmation.
Can I contact a teammate from the app?
Yes. Long-press anyone's avatar (on comments, tasks, photo details) to open their person card with call, SMS, and email buttons.
Does commenting work offline?
Yes. Comments written offline are queued on your device and posted automatically when you're back online.
Reportes
What kind of reports can CrewBox make?
Professional multi-page PDF progress reports built from your project photos: a branded cover page (company logo, title, reporter, date), photo sections with titles and summaries, configurable headers/footers, and per-photo captions. Generation happens entirely on your phone.
Can I control how photos appear in a report?
Yes — choose 2, 3, or 4 photos per page, and whether each photo shows the original, the annotated version, or both. Toggles control photo numbers, author, date, GPS, and tags.
What are report templates?
Reusable report structures. Build a report once, choose Save as Template, then start future reports from it with From Template.
What is the "client access" setting?
A per-report toggle that controls whether the report is available to the project's client.
Notificaciones
Why don't I get push notifications on my lock screen?
CrewBox currently checks for new notifications every 60 seconds while the app is open, and shows the unread count on the bell icon in the header. Lock-screen push notifications are not part of the current release.
What am I notified about?
Mentions in comments, task assignments and updates, comments on your content, and photo/document activity — organized into All, Mentions, Assignment, y Tareas tabs, each with its own unread count.
How do I clear notifications?
Open the bell icon, then Mark all for the current tab, or select individual notifications and Mark selected. Tapping a notification also marks it read and takes you straight to the related item.
Offline & Sync
What works without internet?
Photo and video capture, project creation, commenting, and browsing everything you've already loaded. All changes queue locally and sync automatically on reconnect.
How do I see what's waiting to upload?
Tap the upload progress strip under the header (or the pending badge on a project) to open the Upload Queue — it shows offline projects, active uploads, pending drafts, and any failures with their error messages.
An upload failed. What now?
Failed uploads retry automatically when connectivity returns. You can also open the Upload Queue and tap Retry failed, or discard items you no longer want.
Settings, Languages & Devices
What languages does CrewBox support?
English, Spanish, and French — fully translated. Change languages from your Profile; the app switches instantly without a restart, independent of your phone's language.
Is there a dark mode?
Yes — toggle it on your Profile screen. Your choice persists.
What phones does CrewBox run on?
Android phones and iPhones, with the same features on both — CrewBox is built from a single cross-platform codebase.
What trades and industries is CrewBox for?
Any crew that documents work in the field: general contracting, roofing/exteriors/solar, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, restoration and remodeling, landscaping, painting, concrete, property management, cleaning, pool, and insurance inspection. If your work happens at a site and needs photos, tasks, and reports, CrewBox fits.
How does CrewBox compare to CompanyCam?
Both are jobsite photo documentation apps. CrewBox's strengths: a fully offline-first design (capture, create projects, and comment with zero signal), PDF reports generated on the device itself, re-editable vector annotations with imperial/metric measurement labels, three complete languages with instant in-app switching, and an identical native experience on Android and iOS. Evaluate both against your crew's workflow — the differences that matter are offline behavior, reporting, and language support.
The app is using storage. Can I free space?
Yes. Profile → Clear project cache clears locally cached project data (it never touches unsent uploads without asking).
Privacy & Data
Where are my photos stored?
Captures are stored privately on your device until uploaded, then on CrewBox's servers organized by project. Saving to your device gallery is always an explicit action.
Who can see and delete content?
Content is visible to the project's team. Deleting photos, documents, and comments is limited to the project owner, managers, or the person who created the content.
What permissions does CrewBox ask for, and why?
Camera (capture), microphone (video audio), location (photo geotagging and Near Me sorting), and photo library (gallery import and saving). Each is requested only when the feature needs it, and features degrade gracefully if declined.
How is my login protected?
Credentials and tokens are kept in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android encrypted storage), Google sign-in uses the industry-standard PKCE flow through your system browser, and biometric login is gated by your device's fingerprint/Face ID hardware.
