A panel cover goes back on. Drywall closes. The trench gets backfilled. At that point, a good electrical inspection photo report may be the only proof left of what your crew found, corrected, tested, or installed.
For electrical contractors, photos are not just progress updates. Finish with correction photos if the crew addressed an issue found during the walkthrough.
For panel and service work, show the existing condition first. Document the service equipment, feeder routing, main disconnect, grounding electrode conductors, neutral and ground bars, breaker labeling, and any damaged or nonconforming components. After work is complete, show the finished equipment closed and labeled, plus detailed images of the key connections before covers are installed.
For repair calls, the sequence is even more important. Record the reported issue, the visible condition, diagnostic findings, the failed part or damaged conductor, the repair, and the final verification. If the client declined a recommended repair, document the finding and the recommendation plainly. That is not paperwork for paperwork's sake. It is protection against a later claim that nobody explained the risk.
Add Notes That Explain the Evidence
Photos prove more when the note says what the viewer is looking at. Keep annotations short and specific. "Bad wiring" is weak. "Heat discoloration found at loose termination on breaker serving rooftop unit" tells the actual story.
Use notes to identify equipment, describe the issue, state the corrective action, and flag any work that remains. If a condition needs client approval or another trade's involvement, say so directly. "Ceiling access required before damaged branch circuit can be replaced" is more useful than "Need follow-up."

A project manager should not have to guess whether a photo shows a completed repair, an open issue, or a condition outside the electrical scope.
