How to Show Original, Annotated, or Both Versions of a Photo in Reports

CrewBox annotations are a separate layer on the photo — so every report can choose which version prints: the clean shot, the marked-up one, or both side by side.

Set the Report Default

  1. Open the report in the editor → Settings tab.
  2. Find Photo display and choose:
Original — clean photos, no markup
Annotation — photos with their markups rendered
Both — each photo appears twice, original and annotated
  3. Every photo in the report uses this unless individually overridden.
Report Settings tab with a Default photo display choice of Original, Annotation, or Both

The Settings tab's Default photo display controls whether photos print Original, Annotation, or Both.

Override a Single Photo

  1. Sections tab → open the section → find the photo.
  2. Overflow menu → Edit.
  3. Set that photo's own display mode (plus optional title/description overrides).

When to Use Which

ModeUse case
OriginalMarketing-quality progress reports — clean visuals
AnnotationPunch lists and defect reports — the circles and arrows are the content
BothInsurance and dispute documentation — the untouched evidence next to the callout, no ambiguity

Only photos that have annotations are affected by the mode — clean photos print clean regardless.
