Images & Videos Documentation

Field capture, photo markups, voice annotating, and timestamp verification.

Uploading photos and videos from the field

Capture and upload media directly from the site, even offline.

Tap the camera icon inside any project in the mobile app. You can take photos or record videos up to 15 seconds. CrewBox automatically handles compressed background uploads to save battery and data. If you lose internet connection, media is queued and will automatically sync as soon as you are back online.

Drawing and adding text annotations to photos

Use markup tools to highlight specific details or issues on your job photos.

Open any uploaded image and tap 'Edit Markup'. You can draw freehand, add colored arrows to point out discrepancies, place measurement text, and add text comments. This is perfect for pointing out structural details, code violations, or finished punch list items to clients and crew.

GPS-tagging and timestamp verification

Understand the metadata automatically attached to every captured image.

Every photo captured through the CrewBox app has a cryptographic tamper-proof timestamp and GPS coordinate embedded. This metadata is saved to the cloud and cannot be modified. It serves as irrefutable proof of work when submitting claims, resolving general contractor disputes, or sending client updates.

Photo Viewer & Details Guide

Review high-resolution field imagery, annotate assets, and manage photo metadata.

When selecting an individual image from your project's media, CrewBox Pro opens a dedicated, full-screen photo viewer. This interface allows you to review high-resolution field imagery, navigate sequentially through assets using the arrow overlays, or return to the main gallery by clicking the Back button. The layout is designed to keep the visual evidence front and center while providing powerful administrative tools directly on the right side of the screen.

Key Features & Sidebar Controls

  • Photo Details: Located at the top of the sidebar, this section displays critical tracking metadata, identifying exactly who uploaded the image and the precise date it was captured.
  • Tags & Notes: Below the action grid, you can open the Tags dropdown to categorize the image for better searchability, or use the Notes field to type out specific on-site observations or context regarding the photo.
  • Live Collaboration Feed: The far-right pane features a dedicated chat thread tied exclusively to this photo. Team members can discuss the image, flag issues, and collaborate in real-time with automatic timestamps.

Quick Actions

The Quick Actions grid is the functional core of the photo viewer, allowing you to manipulate the asset or immediately turn visual data into actionable workflow items:

  • Annotate: Open editing tools to draw, mark up, or highlight specific areas directly on the image to point out field issues.
  • Show: Toggle the display settings or visibility status of the asset within the system.
  • Create Task: Instantly generate and link a new task to this photo, automatically attaching the visual context for the assigned crew member.
  • Move to Project: Reassign and transfer the image to a different active project pipeline if it was uploaded incorrectly.
  • Rotate Left / Rotate Right: Correct the orientation of the image on the fly with quick 90-degree adjustments.
