The Zoom Pills (fastest)
Tap 1x or 2x on the camera preview — instant, repeatable zoom levels. 2x is the workhorse: close enough for a label, a fastener pattern, or second-story detail from the ground, without the shake of higher digital zoom.
Pinch to Zoom (precise)
Pinch outward on the live preview to zoom in anywhere along the range; pinch inward to widen. Use it when 2x isn't quite the framing you want.
Field Habits
- Zoom instead of walking into hazard zones — shoot the open trench detail from the tape line.
- Steady at zoom: zoom magnifies shake; brace an elbow or use the volume-key shutter so tapping the screen doesn't wobble the frame.
- For very fine detail, consider shooting at 1x-2x and pinch-zooming the photo afterward in the viewer — the full-resolution capture often out-resolves heavy live zoom.
